What is Invisible Stranding?

  • Invisible Stranding (aka Ladderback Jacquard) allows you to carry yarn across any number of stitches without catching the floats. Catching floats creates a visible pucker in your knitting and often allows the other color to show through. Invisible Stranding eliminates both problems. Take your stranded knitting projects to the next level and never fear the “long float” again!

Prerequisites: previous experience with stranded knitting; this is not a beginner class.

Materials & Supplies:

Worsted weight yarn in two contrasting colors (approx. 110 yds of main/background color, 50 yards of contrast color).
Suggested needle sizes: Sz 6 and 7 circular needles, sz 6 dpns. See pattern for more details.

Purchase the Pattern on Ravelry: It’s Not About the Hat by Susan Rainey. The hat comes in 5 sizes. See pattern for more details. There is homework to complete prior to class so that class time can  be focused on learning new skills. DO NOT PRINT THE ENTIRE pattern, we will have a homework handout that indicates which pages you should print; in addition, you will be casting on for the hat prior to the first class.

Class materials: Yarn for class must be purchased from beWoolen. We offer students a 10% discount on all yarn purchased for class Please check the class description for a complete list of required materials and for homework (if applicable) to be completed prior to class. By signing up for class, you agree to comply by all of our class policies, found HERE
