Manchelopi is an unspun yarn that is made 100% with Manchega wool from La Mancha.
Its white natural color and its twist-free slivers make this “cheese” a rare and high-quality material with which you will be able to create unique and inimitable clothing.
Knit it in two strands to make it easier - for a thickness of 230m / 100g (it will work wonderfully for DK to Aran weight, depending upon needle size); on the other hand, if you are one of the highly skilled ones and you dare to separate & work with a single strand, you will have double the meters: 460m / 100g (Fingering).
Notes about working with this yarn:
This unique wool is a bit like pencil roving in that it's unspun. It is light and airy with a long staple. Used in a single-strand, this wool is wonderful for lace or sweaters. Work with 2 strands for typical Icelandic pullovers, jackets, scarves, hats, and mittens. Or 3 and 4 strands for coats and blankets.
This wool is delicate because it's unspun, but don't let that put you off. Carefully unwind your wool from the plate (never tug) to knit your stitches before unwinding the next lot. Should your wool break, simply rub the two ends back together with a little water (or spit). Once knitted, the yarn is strong yet soft!
