Set off on a splendid adventure with Voyage; a pattern that is perfect for knitters who revel in color. Voyage is your chance to play, experiment, and watch as a blend of hues unfolds into a cozy, eye-catching cardigan.
The bottom-to-top construction is started flat, then transitions to working in the round while incorporating steeks for the cardigan opening, as well as for the armhole openings. This class is best for intermediate/advanced knitters with some sweater knitting and color work experience.

Bill will help you on your Voyage as you work through the pattern
step by step:
  • Beginning with the ribbed hem, you’ll knit flat
  • Transition to knitting in the round for the body
  • Color work techniques and discussion of charts and color placement
  • Incorporate front button band steek
  • Steek reinforcement & cutting
  • Shape for the armholes and sleeves, which are then steeked
  • set in sleeves - seamlessly using short rows
  • Ribbing neckline and button band, sew on buttons
Materials:
Purchase and print the Voyage pattern by Wool & Pine, yarn: may we suggest Rowan Felted Tweed - which has SO many colors to mix and match, needles for gauge in ribbing size and body size (Bill will review gauge with you in class as well); stitch markers, notions per pattern; you'll need button towards the last class.

Homework:
Perform a gauge swatch in the round for the first class; color in your chart to experiment with some color placement ideas if you like (feel free to geek out and create lots of versions in a spreadsheet or make multiple copies......) Please make sure your contact information is current in your profile. (cell phone number as well as email)
