Skill level:
This class is a confident beginner plus and up. Prior knowledge of provisional cast on, knitting in the round and grafting/Kitchener stitch is helpful.

Are you ready to expand your knitting skills? The Agnes cowl by Aleks Byrd is the perfect project to try out some colorful knitting techniques. Knit in the round seamlessly and grafted together with Kitchener stitch, multiple stitch patterns create stripes of seed stitch, colorful Kihnu vits knitted braids and roosimine inlay. 

Things we'll cover in class:

  • knitting in the round
  • kitchener stitch
  • roosimine inlay knitting
  • Kihnu vits knitted braids
  • reading charts

Yarn ideas:

Pascuali Sayama (DK), 4 hanks main color and 1 each of 2 contrast colors. Miss Deb obtained gauge (in stockinette and seed stitch) with US 4/3.5 mm, 16"/40 cm circular needles. For braids and roosimine, US 5/3.75 mm. Gauge is unique--go up or down needle size/s as needed.

What You'll need:

US 4/3.5 mm, 16"/40 cm circular needles

US 5/3.75 mm

Notions: Bring extra needle sizes, stitch markers, waste yarn, crochet hook, tapestry/yarn needle.

Purchase and print a copy of the pattern, have your yarn purchased and wound if necessary, scissors, pencil and paper for notes, US3 & US4 in needles of your choice.

Class Homework:
Prior to class, work a swatch in the round and measure, adjusting needle size as needed. Read the pattern ahead of class and check out the video tutorials: www.aleks-byrd.com/tutorials

Please bring the following  notions: split markers, tape measure/gauge ruler, extra needle sizes in the event you need to adjust, yarn needle, fix it tool, scissors.
