It’s Not a Sweatshirt is a simple and basic staple sweater with a relaxed fit, inspired by the classic sweatshirt. The sweater is worked seamless top down in the round in stockinette stitch. It begins with a folded ribbed neckband, and continues with short row neckline shaping and raglan increases to the underarms. Sleeve stitches are then placed on hold to be worked after the body has been completed.
What You'll Learn:
- How to select the the right size based on your gauge swatch
- Folded neck
- German Short Rows
- put sleeves on hold, pick up underarm
- Italian/Tubular Bind Off
Yarn: The pattern is written for fingering weight yarn held with mohair (2 yarns held together throughout - try Ito Kinu + Ito Sensai, or Cascade Heritage + Cascade Suri Seda), or use a heavy DK/worsted weight yarn such as Cascade Woolpaka, Friday Harbor, Eco Merino DK, or beWoolen Pigments Cloud. Our staff is always happy to help you choose the perfect yarn for your project.
Homework: Swatch with project yarn and adjust needle size to get the gauge. You may have to go up or down needle size/s, if needed. Bring your swatch to class. We will review size to select based upon your gauge swatch.
