You'll learn essential sweater-knitting skills like knitting in the round, raglan increases, separating for the sleeves, and picking up stitches—all at a relaxed pace with plenty of guidance.
Ready to knit your first sweater? A simple, top-down raglan is designed with beginners in mind! Worked seamlessly in the round, these sweaters use basic stitches, straightforward increases, and minimal shaping to create a comfortable, well-fitting garment.
Choose from these three beginner-friendly patterns:

Each pattern is designed to be approachable for first-time sweater knitters, with clear instructions and simple construction techniques.
Supplies:
Yarn: Worsted-weight yarn (Cascade 220 or Woolpaka are great options) – amount needed varies by size
Needles: US 6-9 recommended (or size needed to achieve gauge, bring extras for adjustments)
DPNs or magic loop: For sleeve knitting (if not using the magic loop method with long circulars)
Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, stitch holders or scrap yarn, scissors

Homework Required Before Class: Have your pattern purchased and printed. Have your yarn purchased and wound so you are ready to begin. Read through the pattern - instructor will help you choose your size based on the finished size. Bring a variety of needle sizes to class, you will swatch and measure your gauge in class. You may have to go up or down needle size/s. Miss Andrea will work with you on every step of making your first sweater.
