Let Miss Anne be your guide to walk you through her custom fit sock pattern: no matter your foot size and shape - wide or narrow, long or short, this sock will fit your foot. You will work one sock at a time in this class.

In three sessions, you'll learn how to:

  • Measure your foot 
  • Anatomy of a sock - refresher
  • Figure the math for the pattern, 
  • Learn Judy's Magic Cast on
  • Increase to the number of stitches needed for your sock.  
  • Work the gusset increases
  • Turn a slipped stitch heel, 
  • use German Short Rows
  • Learn the Surprisingly stretchy bind off, 
  • Weave in ends ....and answer any questions you have!

Skills required:  knowledge of how to knit in the round in your preferred method (magic loop, two circulars, or dpn’s.) Knit, Purl, YO, kfb, Sl1, k2tog, SSK, and ribbing. Previous sock knitting experience with fingering weight yarn on a size 0-2 needle is recommended. 

Homework Required Before Class

Make a 4” x 4” swatch in stockinette stitch using your preferred sock knitting method to get a gauge of 8-9 sts per inch. You will need your swatch at the beginning of class.  

After completing your gauge swatch, Anne recommends weighing your yarn and separating it into 2 equal balls. 

Materials: 

Anne will provide the pattern free in class, 400 yards of fingering weight yarn in a light solid or mostly solid color is highly recommended: try beWoolen sock, beWoolen Pigments, or Cascade Heritage. Needle(s) in size needed to get a gauge of 8-9 stitches per inch. For magic loop a 32” to 40” needle, small circumference circular needle or sock on two circulars (in your preferred lengths), or double pointed needles. Calculator, scissors, darning needle, and stitch markers; 2 locking markers.
